| Moving from a LAN based enterprise application to Web requires a performance audit to ensure high performance |
Enterprises are increasingly looking for web-based deployment for their LAN-based enterprise applications. Browser based access makes it easy for users to connect when they are mobile and reduces the IT infrastructure overhead as well. However, globally accessed enterprise web applications pose significant challenges to maintain decent 'Performance'. Simply moving a LAN based application with no performance tuning or architectural adjustments may slow down significantly and frustrate the users threatening to jeopardize the initiative !
Pariksha’s performance engineering team recently completed a performance audit of a CRM application that migrated from LAN to web. Our team looked at all possible bottlenecks - on the client side, the hosting side, the DB side or the network side. We used performance profiling tools at each and every stage of the execution cycle to pin down the exact bottleneck. A business logic based performance evaluation framework was developed. We were able to identify areas that could lead to near 70% overall performance gains. We strongly recommend a performance audit if you are deploying an application that is moving from a LAN environment to the web.

| Rich-Internet-Applications come to Embedded Devices |
Most microcontroller configurators currently available in the market are desktop based applications. However, with increasing trend to build web-based remote configuration tools, Pariksha has been investigating use of Rich-Internet-Applications to design and build a Web based RIA (Rich Internet Application) tool to configure, manage, and control the microcontroller based embedded devices. This provides a powerful feature to remotely configure and control an embedded device in real-time. This enablement opens up a whole new set of possibilities for embedded device manufacturers and solution/service providers to offer powerful functionalities to their clients.
The next phase for the RIA developed by Pariksha is to offer a web interface to display/ graph of on-line data from embedded devices and a web based Alarm/alert system to send SMS, mail or pager messages to the module owners on threshold breaks

| Exploiting InDesign Server capabilities for Web2Print applications |
Adobe' InDesign Server is changing the way the print and publishing industry works. Conventional workflows required Print customers to build designs using the desktop product, send their designs to the Printer who would finalize the layout, fonts, colors etc before moving to print. InDesign Server allows this to be done over a web-application by providing a WYSIWYG interface over a web-page! By creating a web based application which acts as a client to the server, we can bring whole new experiences to users. Dynamic publishing, collaborative authoring, distributed layouts are all possible with InDesign Server. Pariksha has recently built an application for customizing business documents using a web-based template data merge system

Building Fast Forward/ Rewind functionalities in a Web Video Player
|
Flex developers know that the SDK does not provide any means of Fast Forward and/or Rewind operations for managing your video play-out. However, if you use Adobe’s Flash Media Server, you can write a simple function to accomplish smooth fast forward/rewind functionality giving your viewers a great tool to play with the videos.
